Hey everyone,

I'm thinking about buying a new mobo w/SATA Raid on-board. The only problem is i'm running 4 HD's on one right now (none are serial). What options do I have? Which ones would you recommend?

I'm thinking I should purchase a seperate controller card until I get some SATA drives. Any opinions?

Go with the controller card. A two-channel ATA-100 card is cheap these days.

Yep, since they have been including 2 channel ATA100/133 pci cards (promise) with the 160+ retail hdd's, many people have one that they aren't even using (like me :p )

Otherwise, you could get 4 serial ata adapters like this one or this one. I prefer the AMS one because it's smaller and has a blue activity LED, and a more convenient molex power wire pass thru (where the abit part requires a FDD power connector).

looks like it is much cheaper to go w/a controller card until i can afford some raptors

also, much difference in brands (performance, etc) when you are looking at controller cards?
