Hello,

I'm looking to buy some old servers for data storage. This is the 4U case I was looking at:

Case: Chenbro RM41402 Rev B
Raid Card: Addaptec 21610SA/64MB pci-x
Replacing with: a Dell Perc H200 or an IBM 1015 pcie 8x
Motherboard support both.

It is pretty old, but has 16 hotswap bays. I wanted to know if I could removed the old raid card, and update it to a newer Sata 6gbs card would the backplane on that case need to be changed ?

I am really looking for JBOD support for 3TB+ drives. I know I will not get the speed.

Any advice is appreciated.

have you tried the backplane with a 2tb+ drive? it might just work. its not like the connector is any different, its what the connector is interfacing with that matters.
