How do I get it to work?
Tried just hooking up a drive.
System does not see it.
 
Well there is no adapter there. That is just a SATA/SAS cable that includes power. What exactly are you trying to do?
 
SAS Controllers are compatible with SATA drives.
SAS Drives are not compatible with SATA controllers.

Pretty sure your cable will not work the way you are expecting it to.
 
Amusingly, I have and use one of those, but it's to interface an SAS drive with an SAS controller with an 8087 cable. The other 7 drives on the m1015 are SATA, just the one is SAS.

So, you use a male-male SATA converter ?
 
I went and looked to refresh my memory. It's not exactly like the above. Short (6 inches?) of wires with a black block at each end. One end plugs onto the back of the SAS drive (a normal SAS connector). The other end looks the same but has the slight cut so a SATA drive and SATA power connector attach. Got at some online site (don't remember where), but it was pretty cheap.
