well ive had my sapphire x1950agp installed for 2 days now. i was getting boxes and glitched graphics in wow untill i turned the fam up to 100% and it stoped. today i installed fear and hl2/cs source and i cant play either. the screen is full of little black boxes and glitched graphics.

abit is7
northwood 2.4c @ 2.8 (ran this for over 2 years)
x1950pro agp 512 sapphire
ocz 520w sli powerstream (33A on single 12v rail)
warcat 6.12 drivers
windows xp pro sp2

i really dont think its a power problem either driver or heat (vrm problem)
im also getting the warm boot problem that alot of other people are. boots up fine via power on button but windows/reset button wont work. i have to power down for alteast 30 sec to get it on.

i have accelerox2 cooler and some bga ramsinks sitting here i could toss on in hopes it would fix it via VRM heat problem but im kinda scared since this will void my warrenty.

anyone have some ideas? im kinda stumpped and i have no old card to put in for now (died, and this was the replacment i bought)

well, i just did the wire trick on my roomates ocz gameXtream powersupply with just the card hooked up and its doing the same thing, no warm reboots, and screwed graphics in 3d mode.

i really really dont want to rma this card as i dont have another to stick in there for the time being.

has anyone had problems like mine and figured out how to fix it? (ie.. vrm cooling?)

You did say that your problems went away in WoW, after you increased your fan cycle to 100%, which leads me to believe it might be heat related. How hot does your card get under load ?
See if you can replace the card's cooler with a better one. If the problems persist, I'm affraid your only solution is to RMA it, since the card seems to be defective.
