I have heard bad things about these - about something like they arent really as good as a normal 9800 pro or some scam like that?

Anyways, I was thinking about ordering a 9800 pro off of Newegg.com, and I have narrowed my choices to 3, and they are :

Connect3d Radeon 9800 PRO
Powercolor Radeon 9800 PRO
Sapphire Radeon 9800 PRO

I have heard that the Sapphire is really good for overclocking and such - but after hearing those bad things about the Sapphire 9800 pro, im kind of hectic as to order it or not.

So could someone please clear up this rumor for me and let me know which card would be the best choice?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Sapphire is an awesome brand, just make sure that you order a 9800pro with a 256-bit pipeline rather than the scammed 128 bit pipeline

Yeah the news you've been hearing is true about Sapphire offering a 128 bit version of the 9800pro. I wouldn't call it a scam as the card is described as having half the bus but it isn't a nice surprise for those who didn't read the description. The 'normal' sapphire 9800pro's do OC well and are great cards. I would probably choose the powercolor if the prices were all the same. Powercolor also makes high quality cards and usually has a nice games package. Another thing to think about is if you go with a BBA, you'll get a 3 year warranty instead of year. No matter what choice you make, I'm sure you'll enjoy the 9800pro goodness! ;)

Normal 256bit sapphire pros with DDR1 are also fairly often modded to XTs.

Just remember, we didn't teach you to read in kindergarden so you could spend the rest of your life making decisions based on the pretty pictures on the box.

Peace.

The sapphire 128 bit has a new name becauce of the confusion it created it is called ATLANTIS so stay clear of that one I have owned 2 different sapphir card and they both overclocked like mad!
