Well, in the "Average Joe Video Card" sticky thread, it said the 9800 pro 256MB is the same as the 9800 xt but underclocked. If you look at the two boards :

9800 pro

9800 xt

The boards are identical. Someone, however, told me I may have to flash the video card bios (I've never even heard of that!). I was just curious if anyone could verify and if I have to, link me to a helpful video card bios flashing webpage.

Thanks in advance :)

I don't think there are too many who did this............9800pro 256mb is also rare than 9800xt.

The 9800 xt on newegg is well over 400
The 9800 pro 256mb refurb is 225 :)

if you flash it, it makes the card more efficient by using the 9800XT instructions, and it also enables overdrive and temperature monitering.
Just get a nice cooler such as a VGA silencer or Giant III and some nice ramsinks.

Other than the flash stopping midway, are there any potential hazards of flashing one of these cards?

looks pretty plain and simple :)
Thanks a million KickAssCop, I'll let you know how it turned out.
