I got a ATI Sapphire 9600 256mb card about a week ago and everything runs smoothly except for one major detail. Whenever I play any video files on my computer, it causes a lockup that can be only recovered by pressing the reset button. I've updated all my video drivers. I've even tried Omega drivers. I have flashed my bios to the newest version, AND have installed all windows updates including SP2, and STILL the blasted thing doesnt work.
The only thing I have noticed is when I move the hardware acceleration slider, located in the troubleshooting tab of the video properties, to anything below the "disable direct draw and direct 3d accelerations" section does video run normally. To this, I have also turned all the direct 3d and open gl settings to as low as you can go and the damn thing still doesnt work.
Can anyone help me out, i'm completely at a loss here! I want my hardware slider on max with a properly working computer, but furthermore, id like to know the problem im facing here...

heres my specs.
