I've had this card for about a month now, and after gaming for about three maybe four hours, its starts to get really laggy, and then MOHPA will start to do some really funky graphics, and then it will just shut down. I don’t know if its getting to hot or what not, but that would be my only thought on that. If so, what would be the best way to cool that card. I've never had a card that had an enclosed area like that for the HS. I also tried to install the new catalyst drivers that include "Display Driver, CATALYST Control Center, WDM Integrated Driver" and MOHPA didn't run at all, but when I put in the other driver that just had the reg panel, it worked fine.

anyone else having issues like this?
 
If you think it's a heat issue (and that sounds likely to me), you may want to RMA the card rather than try to mod its cooling solution.

If you purchased the card from newegg, or another similar vendor, it is usually very easy to get a replacement part.
 
Mine did the same thing to me.
Then I realized I had turned off 2 of my fans on my controler... :eek:
I think its a heat issue. :mad:
But I fixed that by upping the speeds on my fans... Now my case is nice and cool, but my room gets nice and warm! :eek:
 
well it can't be a PSU issue, I have a Noisetaker 600W dual 12v rails

Its in a antec case made for the prescott, I have just about every fan I can put on that case, but I dont know how to measure the ambient temp in the case, or to tell if the GPU is getting too hot.

Are there any programs out there that can measure this?


and has anyone had any problems with the driver issue?

download Everest Home Edition at www.lavalys.com and install it, open prog, hit Computer> Sensor> look for your GPU temperature there. acceptable X850XT-PE temps are under 70c idle.
 
download ati tray tool, sry cant remember where from and then up the speed of ur graphics card fan...it should help, i have the same card and it helped me get it atleast 10degrees cooler...

I agree with Atrye. You should RMA the card.

No matter even if you want to attach some secondary cooling. I would RMA the card because you don't know what kind of damage might have been done to the core or the PVC.
 
well the core temps for the GPU after about 4 hours of gaming are about 55C so I dont think its a heat problem. For some reason I think its a driver issue. I dont know why the other catalist driver didn't work for my machine, but I'm about to install another 4GB of DDR2 today, so I might just reformat my os and start from scratch to see if I can get the other driver to work.

It doesn't happen all the time, its just after a long day of gaming. The case I have gets pretty warm, I have a bunch of HD's in there that are pushing 50C to 60C after a long day. So maybe a better case might be in order to cool it down a bit.
