I cant decide. which is a better performer? The sapphire 7950 is $357 and the 670 is $399 (Comes with Borderlands 2 free)

Wait for the 660ti to be sold.

Should be ~$300.

OR you can get 7970's ~$360, check in the Hot Deals section.

A 670 will destroy a 7950 , and will give a 7970 stock a run for it money and beat it some times

the 660tis are already out on the market and reviewed. The performance is not that impressive at all

I am not sure what reviews you are reading, but in most of the reviews I have seen the 660ti beats the 7950 or is at least equal to it.

so your saying i should grab a 660ti over the 670? IMO the 192 bus compared to the 7950 and 670 bus is going to hurt it especially for crysis 3 and AA settings.

Take a look at the Crysis 2 reviews at 5760x1080, the 660 stays within 2fps of the 7950. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_660_Ti_Direct_Cu_II/12.html

Battlefield 3 @ 5760x1080 with 4xAA is within 1fps. 2560x1600 4xAA is within 2fps. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_660_Ti_Direct_Cu_II/8.html

The 660ti has a better price/performance ratio unless AMD drops the price of the 7950 (or you get a good deal on one)

EDIT: Biggles link even shows the 7950's relative performance at 2560x1600 to only be 2% better than the 660ti's.

If you can get a 7950 for $319 AR, I would grab the 7950 over the 670. If you are paying $399 for a 670 or $359 , then I would grab the 670.

You choice should be 660ti (best in its price range) vs. 7970 (best in its price range)

In the end, it depends on how much you want to spend really.

sapphire 7950 $357
670 $299.99 with free Borderlands 2

660ti 309.99

I am assuming the $299.99 for the 670 is a typo.

In regards to the 7950 or 660ti, at the prices you quoted is the $48 worth the 2% performance? no.

Now, if you can get a 7950 for $320 then I would consider the 7950.

yes it was a typo & no i cant get the 7950 card I want at 320.00 its $357.00 for the sapphire that I want

660ti - 309
Sapphire 7950 - $357.00
670 - $399.99 with free BL2

If I didn't already have all those games, and that card was the same price it is now, when I got my GTX670, I would've gotten that Radeon 7970. I believe with max overclock on both, the 7970 is a faster card than the GTX680. I may be wrong. I really dig the look of the reference AMD cooler, It's sleek and elegant but with an aura of power, it's kinda like a Corvette.

but how is the warranty. I heard that visiontek is one of the worse in the business and they dont honor anything

Ive heard good and bad things about Visiontek.

Most of the gripes are because Visiontek requires the original purchase receipt, which of course most people lose or throw away.

RMA'ing something is generally a really shitty process with any MFR. Alot of people say ASUS is the worst, I have literally heard of bad RMA experiences with every company.

Also, the chance you will need to RMA a video card is probably like 1 in a million.

I'd also like to see these unimpressive performance figures as I haven't seen them in the reviews I've read. It's not a slam dunk winner at it's price point but it's easily competitive and trades blows with it's competition so it's worth a look to see if it excels in the games you play most.

I am debating the 670 FTW or the visiontek 7970 at this point. Leaning alittle bit over on the 670 side for Physx and borderlands 2

You know the 660ti comes with borderlands 2 also right?

Honestly, If someone right now was to put a gun to my head and give me $400 cash moneys and said buy a video card and keep the change, it would be the 660ti. (or maybe that 7970, its a pretty damn good deal), 670 would be the LAST card I would buy.

I ordered the visiontek 7970 with 4 free games at newegg for $369.99 Im heading to bed now i gotta be up at 5am for work and its now 1:50

The thing to keep in mind about the 7950 is that it overclocks like a mad dog. While the 7950 and 660 are pretty close at stock speeds, I am willing to bet the 7950 wins decisively when both are overclocked.

That is a great deal. Hope the card works out well for you.

660 Ti is a useless card imo. Maybe the borderlands deal sweetens it somewhat. However, if you are going to stay in the $300 ballpark range, might as well pick up the 7950 for 320 bucks or so from Amazon or Newegg.

~300 for 660Ti (OC can achieve within 8-10% of 670 spec) -> worst choice, personally wouldn't buy
~320 for 7950 better choice than 660Ti (OC can achieve 7970 spec)
~380 for 670 better choice than 7950 (OC can achieve 680 spec)
~400 for 7970 better choice than 670 (OC can achieve beyond stock 680 spec)

I wouldn't put the money down on a 660Ti.

EDIT: Fantastic choice with the newegg deal. Wow 7970 at 370 completely trumps anything out by nVidia.

Nice choice! i got the visiontek 7970 and like it more then my MSI 7970. mine runs stable at 1.01V at 1000mhz, extremely cool/quiet. the MSI needs 1.1v to do that and .. doesnt sound like a big difference but it has a big effect on full load temps and fan speed.

my msi does overclock like a beast, but i dont run my cards that way except for a couple benchmarks when i first got it.

My msi 7950s were junk and both of them ran like crap. Even my second one artifacted out of the box

Also looks like the Borderlands 2 promo is live for all Nvidia cards, not just the 660 Ti. At least that's what I'm seeing on Amazon.

It is live for all the nvidia products. If you are between a 7950 and a 670 today and you even suspect you might want Borderlands 2, just get the 670.

I snagged the EVGA card with the Hardocp code today, $367.99 shipped free with Borderlands 2.

I was agonizing between the 660ti and the 7950, but with the 670 being that close it makes no sense at all. A reference 670, even if a hair slower than some 660ti cards in certain games will have a ton more overall performance longevity as the games requirements go up over time. A 670 has a much better chance of being solid with games released a year from now.

good choice honestly.

i like my 670 but man i am left wanting on power. granted its pretty powerful but i want MOARS

either way its hard to make a bad decision although i think you wouldve been left wanting with the 560ti

If you can take the noise, heat, and power consumption, try to OC it to 1100MHz+, and you'll be above stock 680 performance.

I'd have been tempted to get that... but the games don't interest me. If they did though, that would be crazy to pass up. Great price.

There are quite a few good deals floating around on the higher end cards while all the buzz focuses on the "meh" middle card battle.

Umm, no.

My 7950 at 1100mhz is about as fast as my GTX 670 at 1238mhz. I can run the 7950 at over 1200mhz too.

The two cards are very comparable. I guess that it boils down to what resolution that you use, price, and features.

True. I'll add that it also depends on what games you play. Some games seem to be NVIDIA or AMD favored.

Between GTX 670 and HD7950 I went with HD7950.

I considered GTX 670 but HD7950 is a better card for my over clocking, gaming liking.
