The MOBO/CPU is really good and I'm pleased with the build, a couple of points:

I initially had loads of problems with the booting. The MOBO just froze at POST then kept restarted, an endless cycle.
It turned out that the SATA mode was to blame:
I had to unplug the SSD to get into the BIOS then change the IDE mode bollocks. It really pissed me off.

The sandy bridge onboard graphics (HD 2000) under Linux, is complete wank, jerky, slow. (..order passive GPU now!)

The MOBO and CPU are surprisingly cool and almost silent, the only noise is:
The PSU with a slight hum at low loads
The WD green is really really quite compared to ANY other non-SDD, it's barely audible.
The fans on "PWM silent" mode are just that.

All I need now is to wait for my nu GPU and the price of 2TB SDD's to go below 6 grand.

Cheers!

love it. Want to build something similar to that!

Thank you, :D

Seriously, To all newbies out there!, do not! attempt your first mITX build with this case, It will make you put rusty nails in your anus.

I consider myself a veteran geek, but this build did try my patience numerous of times. But it's all worth it  (...I guess)

I know EXACTLY what are you talking about!!!
I got exhausted to arrive to build this:

Now it is a fantastic silent gaming ITX, but... WHAT A PAIN!!!

Pretty nice setup, grats.

Btw just out of curiosity, i see your APX140 comes with 4 leg mounting setup (like spyder), the Mousemagician came with the venomus mounting bracket, where did you buy yours?

Are you every opening your case again? I'm not, it's too much hassle

Good point:(
I try not to open the right side of the case, the one holding the MoBo. It's too difficult!
The reasons:

  1. The AXP-140 hits the drive cage, so it's almost impossible to slide the panel to the front to let the back panel connections to slide off the frame.
  2. The videocard needs to be unplugged and, since the AXP-140 is so close to the card, I cannot access to the unplugging mechanism... I need to use a long a thin screwdriver to reach it, bending the videocard. I don't like it!
LianLi should have built the case with a MoBo tray sliding from the back... :(
Another thing is the PSU hole in the back of the case: it's so tight that it teared the stickers on the sides of my GPU... I hate that!
Anyways, at the end it is a great case!:)

Replace the screws with hex heads, I did that on both my Q07 and V352. Still not the easiest to open, but better.

I'm glad I found this thread. I'm going to be replacing my Intel HSF and rebuilding my system. I had originally ordered the Scythe Shuriken Rev B because people swore it fit. But I found that I would have to modify because it wouldn't fit with a video card installed. So the AXP-140 fits just fine it looks like. I just have to decide what fan to use with it.

OP, what GPU are you going to purchase for this build? Also, what distro of Linux are you using?

Hi, just a very quick update on my build;
I was having issues with a high pitch whine, I thought it was the SSD given its mounting position.. but after weeks of ´process of elimination´ I found that it was the Motherboard;
I decreased the CPU voltage by a single increment and reverted my RAM timings from the rated 7-7-7-21, back to the default 9-9-9-24. Whine gone! phewww!

Unfortunately the PSU low load buzz is still there, but only if I put my ear in the case while booted. The buzz is worse when shutdown but it disappears when I switch the PSU off at the back.

I´ve also changed some fans (TY-140) and got a Sparkle GTS 450 Fanless GPU , which is awesome.

OP, what GPU are you going to purchase for this build? Also, what distro of Linux are you using?

Ubuntu / Arch

1) What kind of temperatures are you getting with your fans running at those low RPMs?

2) Have you seen other reported problems with the Seasonic 400W producing a "whining noise"? It's supposed to be silent, so that's a bad "feature."

3) I would think the CPU fan would help cool your PSU, if the PSU's large vent was mounted the other way and facing the fan. What made you decide to mount it the way you did.

4) Nice build. It looks sweet! :)
