Yep and that's all we're getting until a year from now iirc

I think Ivy will be the bigger transition, hopefullly, that way I have atleast some excuse to upgrade :D

its hard to imagine just how more powerful chips are going to get over my much-loved 920

I will be fun to see what the low end does for non-folding PCs though. I wouldn't mind having an excuse to upgrade my HTPCs :)

I wonder how high you can crank an i7 with a tdp of 65......

<evil grin>

Im wondering how these will compare clock for clock with current i7's. these use 4 channel memory right? arent these blck clock locked soo you will need the K chip?

Nobody is exactly sure about the blck issue. You'll hear both opinions.

These are the mainstream line, which will continue to use only dual channel ram. It won't be until the high end gets released in about a year that we'll see the quad channel ram.

they will.. difference is will that performance increase warrant the asinine premium intel will put on the processor..

but looking at the road map it looks like intels going to try to tap into AMD's naming scheme to either trick people into thinking its faster then amd's part or to ruin AMD's naming scheme..

Hopefully by next year, AMD will get their Bulldozer architecture out in prompt order...

How is this a copy of AMD's naming scheme? It's basically the same as Intel's current system except with four digits instead of three.

core i3 2100T, core i5 2500T, core i5 2390T.. dont see the correlation with that? intels never used a T on their processor names.. its only been X or K..

And the T represents very low-power CPUs, which is completely different from what AMD uses it for. You're really saying that Intel is copying AMD's naming scheme just because they decided to use the letter T?

bat shit crazy tactics huh? but it works at fooling people

No, it really doesn't work. And it's not a tactic. I think it's ridiculous that people actually believe the fact that Intel picked the letter T is some kind of scheme to rip off AMD.

LGA1155.

I don't buy into the whole rip off AMD name scheme either..I'm still  as to why they had to drop 1 pin to force everyone out of 1156 upgrade paths..It's as bad as AMD's decision to EOL sckt 939 dual cores back in the day just to force the AM2 move...

One of the I/o controllers is moving onto the chip...forget which one. U.s.b. maybe? So, regardless, a new mobo would be needed.

It appears that LGA1366 isn't going to die out as fast as some of us feared. From what i've seen with other future roadmap plans, it appears that Intel will be offering at least one more extreme edition on the LGA1366 socket. Either way we now need someone to leak the LGA2011 cpu roadmaps.
