Sandy Bridge Release Dates According to Wiki

Yeah its been stated by intel that the higher end sandy bridges wont come out till 2h 2011.

If the specs are true, having 8 cores, 16 hyperthreading and 20MB of cache sounds like a dream. Hope AMD Bulldozer can compete with these as well.

Don't count on it unless they make 8 module/16 cores version. Just imho we will be lucky if single threaded performance of bulldoger can reach penryn levels after oc.

I'm very much looking forward to upgrading to the 1155 platform. Will go with a quad initially with hopes of being able to use chips with more cores in the future.

All this depends on platform upgrade path though.

I couldn't agree more! AMD has no chance of ever catching up to Intel and they never have in the past.

Only way AMD can compete with sandy bridge is if they made a 64 core version to compete with the dual core intels. But clock for clock the AMD will be like 1% of the speed of the intel.

do you remember when the athlon 64 and athlon 64x2 came out? they crushed intels p4s.

I love how I can come to the intel subforum of [H], make a ridiculous post, and people will think I'm serious. I stopped coming coming to this forum because of the insane anti-AMD sentiment. Rarely I come to check it out if I have money and am looking for a hot deal, but I read this genius remark about a "bulldoger" core barely keeping up with penryn and I just had to be a dick about it.

I'm a fanboy. A fanboy of whoever will give me the best performance at a reasonable TDP (that's in reference to Fermi). Today that's Intel. 5 years ago that would have been AMD.

I remember 2 to 3 years where Intel could not compete at the top end. However since core2 has been a product AMD has been about 18 months behind in performance.
