MicroCenter (stores and online) continues to sell the LGA1155 CPUs (and at the same prices they have since their launch).

THe motherboards, however, were pulled by MC from their Webfront (no idea if they remain on the store shelves; I have not been to either Fairfax or Rockville this week).

If anything the price of SB motherboards will increase from this, not the processors. I'll grant you there are a few outliers right now because the major etailers aren't selling the chips at the moment so the ones who are selling them are definitely gouging, but the demand for these chips is actually quite low right now. The motherboards, on the other hand, are basically impossible to find reasonably.

EDIT: I would also like to say that SB procs were not really in low supply before either. There was, for the most part, plenty to go around and prices were never really high on them. Intel, on their own site, claims a price of $216 for the i5 2500k, and they stayed damn close to that before.

Then explain that MicroCenter selling i5-2500Ks for $179.99 at launch, and the price has gone exactly nowhere (even since the chipset recall).

Further, MC, unlike other e-tailers (except Fry's) also has a retail business (has Fry's pulled the CPUs and motherboards, or just the motherboards, as MC did?). MicroCenter continues to sell the CPUs from their Web-based store.

FFS I was just making a point that the news of newegg pulling the parts was not worthy of it's own thread because it had been covered already in many other threads.

but yeah... Intel's site claims $216 for i5 2500k from manufacturer to retailers buying 1000 (or more) of the product. Newegg/TD/online retailers were selling at 225(10 profit?), while Microcenter wanted a loss leader i guess, at 180

Intels pricing on the 1000 CPU OEM Tray MSRP. Those are not Retail CPUs They arent going to post wholesale cost as the actual price. I doubt MC is taking a loss on each chip. If they are its not that much.
