Hi... I'm planning on purchasing a Sandy Bridge based budget gaming build in the near future. I'm not building myself (buying via AVAdirect) and I'd just like to hear if the components I'm choosing is okay with my situation...
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming, but bleeding edge framerates not necessary. Future proofing to at least play games released in the next 3 years at playable fps.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$900 before shipping(again, buying from AVAdirect, not building...)
3) Where do you live?
Orlando, FL
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget?
Complete build, of course, except...
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing?
Monitor, External DVD drive
6) Will you be overclocking?
No interest or need to overclock (except possibly video card) and no SLI either
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
20" (1280x1024) for normal use and 32" HDTV (720p or 1080p) for gaming
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
In about 2 weeks or so...
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
USB 3.0 preferred, but nothing else really... just reliability...
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Nope... need to buy the OS...
Here's what I got so far:
# IN-WIN, Griffin Black Mid-Tower Case, ATX, No PSU, Steel/Plastic (or a Coolermaster Centurion II at roughly the same price)
# CORSAIR, CX500 Power Supply, 500W, 24-pin ATX12V V2.3 EPS12V, 2x 6-pin PCIe, Retail

# CRUCIAL, 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC3-10600 DDR3 1333MHz CL9 1.5V SDRAM DIMM, Non-ECC
# XFX, Radeon HD 6850 775MHz, 1GB GDDR5 4000MHz, PCIe x16 CrossFire, DVI /2, HDMI, DP, Retail
# SAMSUNG, 1TB SpinPoint F3, SATA 3 Gb/s, 7200-RPM, 32MB Cache, Retail

This build comes to $910... about $950 w/shipping...
