SanDisk Launched Flash-Based SSD

Sandisk SD cards are the only ones I will buy. They are the fastest, and are very reliable.

I saw a post about this same thing on guru3d.com the other day.

Looking forward to benchmark and reliability tests as well as actual pricing.
 
My remark about their products was towards their slow usb flash drives. I got two and they are just crazy slow. Probably the worst read and write speeds on a flash drive I have ever seen.

Hopefully they will release some better coverage information on this.

I wonder what memory controllers would support this. I expect that the memory controllers on Intel and AMD processors would not support dimm that was this slow however on motherboard memory controllers could be designed to work with this. Perhaps SanDisk has already developed a memory controller to go with the SSD.

Edit: I see from their web page that it mentions that this device fits in any REG ECC DDR3 slot (although I am still wondering how this would work):

USB flash drives have a huge range of speeds. This is true of all brands.

You just have to look up actual speeds before you buy. Basically, you get what you pay for.
 
That is why I'm very happy with my Kingston Hyper X 250 read and 140 write flash drive. You honestly do get what you pay for. Actually looking at the new Muskin enhanced one with 450 read and 445 write.
