Hello,
I currently have a 48TB RAID Array connected to my PowerEdge running Server 2012. It is connected via SAS. I have it in multiple volumes that can be formatted in any way. I would like one volume to be seen by other servers on the network for storage. I would like the other volume to be seen by Macs and PCs connected via Ethernet for photo and video storage. What is the best way and format to this thank you.

You can download Microsoft Software iSCSI to expose an iSCSI target to your other servers. For everything else just setup a shared folder

Thanks for your reply. Just a couple questions, can more than one client connect to your Microsoft iSCSI server? Does it have to be a windows machine that connects to it or will any iSCSI initiator work (ie globalSAN on my Mac)
Thanks!

May OS's can connect to an iSCSI target, but you really don't want more than one server on a target. If you want that just go with a simple file share.

if you used a cluster filesystem it would be ok...but considering what this guy is asking I would just not bother

Yes,
I know my question is very simple. Please allow me to ask this question; and please bare with me. How do I take a volume connected to my 2012 Server and share it via iSCSI such that my Mac (via globalSAN) and my Windows 7 PC (via MSFT iSCSI Initiator) so that they can connect at the same time? I plan on storing all of my photography projects and libraries on this volume and some files will be 4+ TB each. This is why I do not want a simple share. I am not new to basic server file sharing but I have no clue when it comes to SANs.

Bad mojo. ntfs is not designed to handle two concurrent connections to the same block device. You will corrupt the file system if you do this, it's really only a question of when.

Added: NTFS's maximum file size is 16TB, so normal file sharing in windows should be adequate for what you are trying to do.

That would be ideal, however I need to have iSCSI as they are treated as local drives and have better file consistency for my photo libraries (i.e, I need Final Cut Pro X to see the volume locally or it will refuse to use it to store projects). So, say that for the time being I just want to share one volume over iSCSI. It is connected via SAS to my Server 2012 systems. The server has connection to the same gigabit network that all the other computers do. I want to be able to mount the volume with any iSCSI initiator on my LAN. Is there some step-by-step guide for what I want to do?
Thanks
