Samsung SyncMaster 193P+ VS NEC MultiSync 1970GX

Samsung cost 100 more.....but they both look good according to buyer......which one shall I go for ?

(price doesn't matter)

so hard to choose, since I am still using CTR :)

please give pro and con for each mon if you own any of them

I currently have the NEC 1770GX .. and its fantastic .. the reflect screen covering scared me at first but it doesn't distract at all (Xbrite screens sony uses) and like the Xbrite screen coating it adds to color and contrast which is nice .. the 8 ms response time is a great part . Its got a small foot print ...nice and slim like Dell LCD's .. it also came with a DVI cable which is nice considering alot of 17" LCD makers don't include them. Also the extra USB 2.0 powered slots are cool for those wanting there tower hidden under there desk or for thumb drives . Oh and the color reproduction is great ..it does solid blacks REALLY well .. better than any LCD i have ever used or seen , and for me thats the bane of LCD's period. The backlight is also uniform which is nice .. i remember getting a 16 ms 19 inch Sharp months ago and one of the reasons i took it back was because it had HUGE backlighting spots and couldn't even do grey very well which is sad . Anyway over all happy with the NEC ..and the Samsung is decent but more expansive so .

any ghosting under extreme FPS gaming? I read a review about NEC saying that its response rate is depends on the brightness.
 
Actually the monitors are different in that the Samsung is a PVA model - and thus your contrast is higher, your colours are on a 8-bit panel and viewing angels will be higher ... hence the $ difference. I hope this helps.

is the samsung one protected by glass?
 
yes holycpu its ghosting is non-exsistant to my eye's and i can catch it pretty well .. for once since i have used LCD monitors NEC didn't overbloat there specs and lie alittle. and the contrast on the samsung was worse when i went over a friends house and saw it . The samsung also doesn't come with a DVI cable so thats .. 399 for it ( at my local fry's i don't buy LCD's online cause the dead pixel policys suck for 99 precent of the places out there) plus a 50-60 dollar DVI cable .. no thanks. Also the NEC 1770GX and 1970GX don't have a glass coating ..its a reflective material but not glass .
 
The 193P+, when it comes out, will be a much better monitor than the NEC. Better colors, better contrast, better viewing angles and hopefully, fast response time. However it's release has been delayed so you'll have to wait a couple of months to get one.

oh.......nice ....haha.. I thought the mon is glass instead of clear plastic, oh so its just a glass coating + clear plastic, oh well :)

Can u guys really tell the difference btw 16.2 millions and 16.7 millions? (my doc said i am weak in color so........)

The samsung monitor is sold out at my local futureshop :eek:
While NEC is a really good deal since it cost 600 + free DVI cable.....man, so hard to choose now.
 
i can tell the difference between 16.2 and 16.7 ..esp with effects like smoke ..in 16.2 million colors the smoke looks purplish ..and its not quite as dense .. in 16.7 smoke looks thick and grey hues are all proper so it looks like REAL smoke . Its really nit picking in the end so don't worry about it :)
