A 27" 1440p monitor is what I have. Sure it isn't 40", but I'd rather not see every pixel.

If I *had* to have 40", I'd go surround/eyefinity. 3x1080p ($200 each) monitors in portrait... yummy. Same price, 3x the resolution (okay okay, not 120Hz, that would cost more).
