Samsung Syncmaster Audio Line In/Out Question

I have a Samsung Syncmaster and am currently using it with a HDMI switch so I can switch between using it as a second monitor and as a TV. The only problem I'm having is trying to get sound from both sources to my speakers.

There's a line in and line out port on the monitor so I plugged my speakers into the line out and that works great for the TV, but not the computer. I tried connecting a 3.5mm audio cable from my computer to the line in port on the monitor hoping that it would go through the monitor to my speakers, but that doesn't seem to be working. What am I doing wrong? Any other recommendations? Thanks!

odd... i would have assumed that the pass-through from your computer to the monitor to your speakers would have worked. which audio output device is your computer currently set to?

is your HDMI output carrying audio? what is your HDMI source? ATI vidcard? onboard Intel? NVIDIA?

I don't think the HDMI output from the computer is carrying audio. I have an ATI Radeon HD 5450. I had my computer set to my speakers, but I want to be able to use both through the speakers. The monitor has sound, but it's awful. So right now the only way to use both is to switch the plug every time.

I figured it out. I needed to change the default audio output from my motherboard output to the graphics card HDMI. Works great now.
