Are people using the software that ships with Samsung monitors? I just got a 215TW and wonder about the usefulness of MagicTune, NaturalColor and MagicRotation. Does MagicTune do the same things that the onboard controls do?
i thought the same thing. all adjustments needed can be done from the monitor. also, with nvidia cards, its nice to adjust the gamma and saturation from the driver properties.
you like how when you pop in the cd, and click on whatever you want to run, all it does is tell you to go into the actual folder on the cd. the autorun gui is totally useless, it wont actually run the apps.
you like the 215tw? i just bought the 225bw, but the backlight bleed is just not acceptable. any less and it would be ok, but its just too much. you can tell its a screw up. and apparently on a grand scale...
i head the 215 can have display lag, where the picture is behind your movements. its hardly noticeable, do you have any problems?
krupted, I've only had the 215TW for a day, but so far, so good. Blacks look fine, no particular backlight bleeding to speak of. I'm not seeing any lag, either. I've yet to play a DVD, which I want to do. I'm not a gamer, so I may never see its performance there. I have a pretty good eye for these sorts of details, so I'm pickier than many, but probably quite a bit less picky than many here would be, so you might not like this monitor as much as I seem to so far.
The 225bw has a different type of panel altogether, a TN where the 215TW is a S-PVA. So it's apples and oranges, to a degree.
Actually, I was going to hold my nose and order a Dell 2007WFP, but I saw the 215TW, which had been my other candidate, unexpectedly at a local computer store. So I ponied up the extra cash and bought it on the spot. Now I read that Office Depot had them at crazy cheap prices. But the local outlets don't have any. I'd have bought another had I found one.
I want to use the nVidia drivers to adjust color, but they're sort of a pain. I'll probably end up doing it, anyway.
i know the 225bw is a cheaper type panel, yet after seeing the two i couldnt see much difference. either way, i was going to buy the 215tw but i couldnt pick that up in the store with the 10% discount. it would have been $500. im glad i didnt spend that money though, as you say there are people finding them for $300 online.
if this 225bw didnt have backlight bleed it would be awesome. all in all, the 215 did have better viewing angles, that was apparent, but thats about it. i didnt notice the backlight bleed because the store was so bright anyway.
Samsung is issuing me a replacement, so we shall see. if its no different i probably will sell this screen and just get the 215, or maybe an lg.
