Hi all,

I just wanted to post to share my experience with the new Samsung P2570HD, and it's not so much a good one. I've had a Dell 21" FPW for quite some time and have loved it, but I was looking to move up in size, and there was one of these Samsungs on sale locally.

The colors on it are very dull and washed out. I can clearly tell the difference in quality between my 21" Dell. The blacks are very dark, but all other colors seem to be non-crisp and dull.

The viewing angle is HORRIBLE. I mean, absolutely horrible. With it sitting on my desk and me sitting in my chair, I can tell that my viewing angle is giving me a different view of the top of the screen (darker), whereas something at eye level is more crisp, and something at the bottom of the screen is a little washy. That's about as bad as it can get. If I stretch my body upwards, I can see the contrast at the top of the screen start to change. Movements of my head to the left 1 foot, or to the right 1 foot, will completely change the colors on the screen.

I'd avoid this screen....

Here's a little lesson in LCD's.....I've seen tons of panels and every panel I've ever seen looks like crap pre-calibration with the exception of a couple IPS panels. Turn the brightness down to 110-140 then adjust from there. Besides the viewing angle issues, you can make a TN panel look virtually identical to an IPS when playing a video game.

The vertical viewing angle issue is standard for all TN screens, even the "modern" ones. Most people don't notice it for some reason but personally I can't stand it. If you plan on returning it or exchanging it for something else, don't bother with any TN panels as they are all pretty much the same in that regard.
