Anyone hooked up a Gaming PC to a Samsung "Motion Plus" 40inch or bigger TV?

tell me the juicy details please

I bet you will have better luck at avs forms.
There was a lot of talk lately about samsung and sony with their so called pixel fixers.
ok they are interpelators, they look at frames and interpolate the difference in them and give you what it finds without flicker. Neither works all that well...Sony has a bios update out to fix most of their problems, have not heard if samsung has fixed theirs...some users say they got it almost right.

the floor model at Sears seems to play Blu ray movies well... makes your jaw hit the floor

I actually haven't seen it on gaming but I would think it'd work very well for anything with a lot of motion.

As far as movies go, I think it works well with animated, but film movies look a bit strange on it..some have described it as the soap opera effect. Yes its smoother, definitely, but I think it'd be best for either live action stuff (sports mostly) as it really does work

AMP, (Auto Motion Plus) is one of the 120 Hz features of the latest Samsung LCD TVs, (LN-Txx69/71F. It is entended to reduce flicker and motion blur in movies and HD TV. These sets have a special mode for Gaming called "Game Mode". Game mode switches the TV to 60 Hz and turns off AMP, which kinda tells you that AMP was not entended for gaming.

The more expensive 81 series adds black frams to acheive 120Hz and a better contrast ratio.

I personally would not want a TV adding inturpilated or black frames to a game. I think it would be a problem in a fast action sequence.

The real reason for 120 Hz LCD TVs is to acheave 1080p24 which requires what is know as 5 to 5 pull down. This is only available from Blueray or HD DVD sources.

As pointed out above you will find a lot more at the AVS forums.

If the price keeps falling much further; I may buy one of these, but not for gaming.

samsungs last generation top of the line (65f series) are all dropping to the floor

the 40" are nearing the 1k mark with the 46 only a few bills behind. The 52" was going for 2k at BB last sunday, and with a bit of work could be had for below that. As far as IQ is concerned, these are nearly the same as the 71f series (minus AMP and 120Hz).

The Samsung LNT 4071 is an excellant and bright tv that has a dot resolution of 1920X1080, a vertical resolution of up to 1080p and has a 25000:1 contrast ratio. The cabinet looks like a piece of art. Unlike most lcds the samung LNT 4071 has a tv refresh speed of 120Hz, which reduces the motion blurr associated with lcd tvs. As a PC gaming monitor I'm sure hardcore gamers would be a little dissapointed on the TV vs a PC monitor because it is designed to work with tv first and PCs second. All in all, it is an awesome panel to have in anyone's home theater/gaming system.
