Samsung Gear Almost Instant massive pain

Appears to be a Gear from last year. Put it on, set it up, tried for ten min. and the pain is still killing one eye like surgery with a dull shovel.
I guess that is what happens with astigmatism.
Anyone ever hear of a workaround besides contacts?
 
I get really sensitive if i try bullshit apps. Although i never really have a problem while in the actual GearVR app.
 
This is the first time that I've read anything about astigmatism causing problems for users in VR in the way you describe. Usually it only causes a headache due to the eyes being unable to focus.

What kind of content were you viewing? Are you sure the straps were fitted on your head properly (not too tight)? Did you use the strap that runs over the top of your head, or only the one that goes over your temples?
 
I was just watching the intro stuff. It appeared pixellated, poorly lit, etc. In a couple minutes the pain started.
