Does anyone know why this monitor is so dark? :( I try to change the setting and I can't find a happy medium.

My previous monitor was fine. I didn't change any hardware except the monitor.

I am using a 6800GT and the latest drivers.

The desktop looks ok, but to play a game (half life 2) I have to move the gamma up all the way (in the game) and pretty high in the Nvidia menu.

Is there any way for me to adjust this? How do you guys do it (anyone who has this monitor).

Sorry to bother all the people that I PM'd. I looked through the forums for all the people I could find that mentioned having this monitor. :D

Please for the love of all that is holy, help. :(

A dark screen has taken over in the town of Shmuckety.

Games cannot be played because I can't see anything.

I am getting pn3d even more than usual, blinded by the darkness.

I am staring at my monitor now. The dark things on the screen are really dark and the white is very white, but anything in between is a problem.

When I am playing a game if I go in to the shadows I can't see anything. :(

Woe is me.

i have my monitor Brightness at 65 to 70 and contrast at 100 colors at 9300 k.. seems a little dark but i can't play wow as long as i want to when its bright :D

( those settings are for a Samsung 997DF which i got for 150 bucks :D

Thanks. I will try those settings and see if that works. My monitor has the brightness cranked all the way up though. This is starting to make me think that mine may be f'ed up or something. :(

Are you saying both the Brightness and Contrast are maxed out and its still to dark? If so it seems like a defective monitor...

.

Try the Natrual Color and MagicTune programs and see if thy work for you. I also have 70% brightness and 100% contrast, but I also use nVidia's driver color correction, which i have set at 100% brightness and contrast as well as 1.00 gamma (default driver values)with Digital Vibrance set a few notches above low (low levels of medium I guess you could say) with Image Sharpening set just patch the first notch. In case you were wondering, I have the colors on the monitor itself set at 9300k, 50, 50, 50, and off. Maybe post a screenshot to help us understand what you mean?

Yes, thank you. This is what I am looking for.

I have the monitor itself set to full brightness and I have to set the gamma in nvidia control panel up past 1.00 so I can actually see something in Half Life. In Windows its fine I can see the desktop no matter what.

I will try the settings that you are using and see if it makes things better for me.

I am trying to mess around and make things look normal. :p There are so many options. Gamma (in game), Gamma (WIN), Contrast (in win), Contrast (in game), Contrast (on monitor), and so on.

Thanks for the help. If you can think of anything else let me know.

I have mine set to 30 and 100 on both monitors and they are fine.

Adjusting this: 9300k, 50, 50, 50 helped me a little. Please keep the suggestions coming. I will keep messing with it.

You can also set individual game gamma levels in the nVidia driver settings or using PowerStrip, so try playing around with those to see if you can get settings that you like depending on the game.

I have the 997MB monitor which is almost the same as the 997DF and I find it to be too bright. The Brightness is set to 10 and Contrast is set to 75. I'm thinking your monitor might be defective.

My 997df is at 40:54 (brighness:contrast) and it seems fine. I concur, it must be a defective monitor.

When I changed the monitor to 9300k it changed everything. Now it looks pretty good. Thanks for all the help everyone.
