Samsung 971P or ViewSonic VP930

I have to buy new LCD display to replace my old 15`` CRT.

So I wonder which one is the best?

I`m going to use it for both work (text, web surfing, Photoshop for home level) and entertainment (games, DVD movies).

I have heard that Samsung 971P has too bright backlight and you cann`t make it less bright even with decreasing brighteness level. Can it be true?
And also there are rumors that ViewSonic VP930 has very good colours, even better than Samsung, but almost no one is smart enought to calibrate it right ;)
 
I would definitely grab the 971P. Its contrast has been measured at 1750:1 here: http://www.flatpanels.dk/test.php?subaction=showfull&id=1166430756&archive=&start_from=&

I had owned the VP930b and I was pretty disappointed with its color performance and backlight uniformity. The black level was pretty good, though, but the 971P's is even better and the backlight isn't nearly as ununiform. Look at how bad the VP930's backlight performs at the same site:

Thanks for links, i always look only in russian and english reviews, so this one was new for me (unfortunately I understood no word from that dutch language :D ). Now, when I saw calibration tests, i`m sure 971P is very good.

But about backlight in VP930 - that big white round - isn`t it just camera`s flashlight? Or what? Can I really be so bad? :eek:

The VP930b's backlight bleeding really is bad. I had one myself and it had an X pattern. There's really no reason at all to get the VP930 over the 971P. I'm not 100% sure about response time but chances are it (the overdrive) is controlled better (it was bad on the VP930 in some instances), and the speed difference is probably negligible.
