IS heat really an issue with these?

I am considering a MB that has the M.2 slot underneath the graphics card wondering is it may get too hot under there
 
Assuming your graphics card has a standard cooler -- air drawn in from the top and forced into the heatsink, exits out of all sides -- the airflow out of the inner side next to the motherboard is probably BETTER for your 950 Pro M.2 than having nothing in that PCIe slot. Even if it is exhausted warm air, the M.2 slot would otherwise see pretty much zero airflow in a consumer case.

The M.2 slot placement between PCIe slots on most mobos is puzzling, because the only way that gets decent linear airflow is in a server-style case with a high-powered "fanwall" and PCI slot covers with holes/grills.
 
I have a 980TI Gigbyte G1 and it keeps my 950 PRO cool. Due to the fan design. I can F@H with OV/OC and run benhmark tests on the 950 PRO and it is still 10-20C below throttle temp
 
Perhaps the people on desktop motherboards having problems with M.2 throttling can just stick a PCI slot cooler above it...?
