I recently purchased a new Samsung 930B. When it arrived it could not work on Digital mode; the DVI cable was supposed to be the problem so two days after I received a new DVI cable but that changed nothing. My 930B still could not work on Digital mode. I was told that I'll received a new monitor within a few days and meanwhile I went on working with this monitor on analog mode.
The result was quite good; the colors were not as beautiful as with my old 15 inch CRT but I was not expecting my LCD to have better or even equal colors as a good CRT. The only reason I purchased a LCD was to be able to work long hours without or far less eyes fatigue and for that I was ready to make a small sacrifice in color quality. I have no problem with space and who cares about the weight of the monitor; I don't have to hold it when I use it - it stands on a desk. I ran a few games and I did not see the slightest shadow of ghosting while playing F.E.A.R, , Ghost Recon AW, Oblivion , Half Life 2. Reading web pages and working with Word was not as good as was used with my CRT but fair enough. So the result was more or less what I expected.
Then after a few days I received the new monitor and this one could work on both digital and analogue modes. As soon as started to work on digital mode I ran Oblivion and was surprised to see that result was not as good as on analog mode. In outdoor scenes in the dark at night my character is darker than in analog mode but the sky is less black (really less profound) and the colors appear much lighter in the bottom and upper part the monitor. I experience the same problem while playing with F.E.A.R in dark scenes: black is less black , I see less details in colors and the bottom and upper screen is brighter than the rest (and that is the case in all games). I did some adjustments but I could not get back the fair results I experienced while working on analog mode. I am quite surprised because I expected the digital mode to give better color/picture than the analog mode.
Any Samsung 930B or 940B owner who had and solved such problems ? I am actually I am considering to go back to work on analog mode. Anybody with a LCD with both analog and digital and has better results on analog than digital ?
Thanks in advance
