samsung 840 evo without laptop upgrade kit

well... I got a deal on this and grabbed it, not realizing that it didn't come with the upgrade kit (spacer and USB / SATA adapter). Is there no way to buy samsung's upgrade kit, so as to be sure that it will work with samsung's data migration software?

I did a clean install (and everything that entails) onto a mechanical hard drive, and would rather avoid repeating it ---- unless there is a good reason to do so.

Any suggestions?

I could possibly get one of DVD drive bay adapters.

You can download and run it as long as you have a Samsung SSD. Make sure you get the Magician software to do quick tweaks.

Can I run the migration on a desktop, and just plug both of these drive into the sata on that machine?

So:
1. install samsung's software on the existing laptop HDD (which i assume includes any necessary drivers/settings to boot windows on that ssd)
2. install smasung's software on a desktop
3. plug the HDD and the SSD into the desktop SATA and migrate from the attached HDD to the attached SSD using samsung's software.
4. mount the SSD in the laptop and boot

Will this work?
