what should I be expecting in bench tests for this combo?

using intel port of course
is set to ahci in bios
have tested using both msachi and intel rapid storage drivers (12.8)

So here is some figures.

On old rig, which was p55 chipset only sata 2nd generation. msahci drivers. (exact same ssd).

as ssd

seq
read 261 write 244
4k
read 21 write 62
4k threaded
read 181 write 98
access
read 0.0127 write 0.052

on this rig with msachi

seq
read 475 write 96
4k
read 20 write 42
4k threaded
read 279 write 64
access
read 0.0113 write 0.072

this rig using intel rapid storage driver

seq
read 485 write 166
4k
read 21 write 56
4k threaded
read 281 write 70
access
read 0.0108 write 0.059

my issue really is write performance is down, especially on msahci exact same drivers as before, was surprised to see a big jump to intel drivers so obviously have kept those on. is this drive capable of doing 500+ at least on reads?

Odd to see your write drop off so much. I'm on my phone, but the 830s should be doing 470/400 if I'm remembering correctly. The 830 is basically getting the same numbers as my Crucial haha.

ok thanks for confirming.

I can confirm the partition is aligned but on the original install I did manually do 1k, not extra 100meg windows partition, this one I let windows 7 installer handle it so is the extra 100meg.

IT did feel slow before as well, hdd light kept sticking on like it was struggling to do i/o, it does feel snappy again on the intel drivers and hdd light now only flickers on, but obviously the banchmark for writes is bugging me :(

ok an update.

found some info which says only the 256/512 models can hit 400writes, my 128 drive should hit 320 tho.

I ran the optimizer in samsung magician and bam my speeds are now up to close to the previous level approx 230.

So is trim working? lol as with trim I shouldnt need to run optimiser :p I rememebr doing an old topic about trim as is no way t know its working, can only check the windows setting (is on).

I am still about 70meg down on writes but at least its not 90 anymore :)
