Samsung 710T vs Dell E172FP

I'm compairing these 2 monitors. I'm leaning towards the Samsung because it has a faster response time, almost 3 times brighter, has a better contrast ratio and DVI. It is 80 dollars more, but that's fine with me. Plus, I've heard Dell is having quality control problems. What do you guys think? Both the Dell and the Samsung are 17 inch monitors

hell yea get the samsung... they are really good quality, stylish, have dvi (dell does too but not on their "cheap" ones) and the response time is A HELL OF A LOT FASTER... trust me u can tell the difference between these 2 monitors... and plus the 710T is a really good buy... thinkin bout gettin one miself

I have the Samsung, and you're right... because of quality-control issues, I probably will never go with Dell for an LCD until they get their act together.

make sure you order the Samsung monitor from Dell, they have the best return policy by far, way better then newegg's 8 dead pixels or more policy

I personally own one. 7 dead pixles, but only 1 noticible one. Its ok. This replaced my 4 year old Sony Trinitron 19" (1280x960 @ 85Hz 0.24 dot pitch).

I will say that for me text is harder to read. Not because its not "as clear", but mearly because its smaller then was displayed on my 19" sony. I think i should have gone with a 19" LCD instead, oh well.

12ms is fast, and in games i don't notice any problems. Browsing web pages i can notice the 12ms as being much slower then my 85Hz was. Also, when i move my mouse around on a black background, i can notice a much slower response time then if it was over another color (mouse actually goes semi transparent).

If you are looking at a 17" monitor, this is a good one.

It helps a lot. I would be looking for a good 18-19 inch CRT if the technology didn't hurt my eyes. I'm willing to make some comprimizes and buy an LCD as it doesn't seem to make my eyes hurt
