im gonna buy this LCD unless some one here tells me not to and why not...it looks sick, cheep, 17" is more then enough... any reasons not to???

most importantly, any one know what kinda dead pixel policy samsung has? thanks!
 
I use this monitor.

I've played CS:S, World of Warcraft, Q3, UT2004... loads of other games. I notice nothing in the ghosting department (advertised as 12ms.. so its pretty good). Watching DVD's is also nice.

It has NO DVI port. Only a single VGA input. Just wanted to make sure you know this.

I personaly love the monitor. It seems like a great value.

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Samsung's dead pixel policy. I havn't had to deal with them because my monitor came with all pixels go!

As with most any monitor, there is definately going to be fuzziness and scaling depending on which sub-native resolution you choose.

I just tried a couple on mine, and it looks a tad fuzzy. Stretched in those that are not the same ratio. If you are planning on running games below native, I think it would be barely noticable unless you were looking for it (Serves as a little AA, no? :D ).. you should be focusing on frags/spells/monsters anyways ;)

And just don't run your desktop below native.. that.. doesn't make much sense. :p
 
I've got the 712N, and it's been a pretty good monitor. No dead pixels that I can tell, although it does have a little backlight leaking issue when the screen in completely black. It's really impossible to notice, so i'm not concerned about it. The only thing you'll notice, is some screen tearing when playing games above 1024x768 resolution, although this is pretty common on many LCD's.
 
would you guys reccomend the 740B over the 710, as it has DVI...is it worth the extra money? thanks :)
 
At 17" I don't feel DVI is critical. Only at 19+ does DVI start to make a difference to me, really. See what others have to say...
