I just bought a samsung 28ud590 because it was on sale. I'm about to return it because I can't get it to show the 3840x2160. I just wanted to see if I'm missing something.

At work I have a Dell P2815Q that runs at 3840x2160 @ 30hz on a Quado FX 580 video card using a mini display port cord.

The Samsung I'm using at home has also a display port cord but can only get 2560x1440 @ 60hz. I'm running it off a Quadro FX 4800 card so I don't understand why it's not even giving me an option of 3840x2160 @ 30hz. I mean tried using the HDMI port with no luck by buying a displayport to Hdmi adapter.

I know, but it can still run the Dell P2815Q at 3840 x 2160 (30Hz).

I think I'll just going to send back the samsung and stick with dell.

I just won the UD590 myself at work and awaiting final paperwork. I am also curiouse about this because maybei should trade it in for a 120HZ 1440p Monitor or 144hz 1080p monitor for gaming in WoW and other AAA Steam titles on my R9 290

yeah its definitely not the monitor, I have one in front of me as I type this and its running at 4k 60hz off of my 290x.

Yeah I'm starting to think that I would need a different video card to run it. At least one that has an HDMI output to run it at 30hz. I was hoping a displayport to hdmi would at least have me running at 30hz but it doesn't even recognize the monitor.

I knew that my card would've probably not run it at 60hz but I would've been happy at 30haz.

If they don't take it back I'll have to wait until I have money for an upgrade. That means I'll probably have to change the Power Supply which I haven't done before.

I got to admit though, it's still very nice at 2560x1440 @ 60hz. I forgot how working at 60hz feels like. But I need the extra space pixels for work.

I'm going to try a different displayport to hdmi and see if it works. If not I'll just have to with the dell monitor. I know they have some at 60hz but not in my budget. (needing to upgrade video card, etc)

Yeah I'm going to keep it. I tried another displayport to hdmi cable and it didn't work so it must be the video card. While I was in the store I found one that was reasonably price at $150 that would work with my power supply. Now it's running great @ 60hz

Thanks for your input guys.
