Hi,

I downloaded drivers off samsung site but I still don't have access to all my settings on the OSD. Even auto adjust isnt there. It just says 'option unavailable' And also, what is the name of the program that helps you finetune/adjust your monitor settings?

Some settings aren't usable in DVI mode so they're grayed out. The software to fix up your gamma and stuff is called Magictune. Use a brightness of around 49 + magic tune.

Oh yea, be prepared for massive RGB adjustments, had to change mine to 44R 41G 53B to get a neutral white point

Mine had massive excess green followed by red, some of the have excess blue though.

yea, like most review had many complaints but i still think it provides a great picture. however i am annoyed with the fact that i have to tilt the screen downwards to get the top area to look brighter. if im looking at it at eye level, the top appears dark.

You get what you paid for. Little money, little quality

I prefer to spend 390 euros on a Dell 2007FP then 415 euros on a Samsung 245B

I had the Samsung 245bw but I found that it was only good for gaming.. and I only game for about 1-2 hour's a day.. I could not stand the vew angle's when I would surf the web so I took it back and got the LG Electronics L246WP-BN and I must say it is the best monitor I have seen. The Samsung 245bw is nice and has good color's but the view angle's are just to messed up. I can't stand how the top of the screen is so dark and the bottom so light..

€ 1 =$ 1,44

We have 19% Tax here, so $550 w/o tax makes $654,50 with tax = € 454,51 with tax.

For the 2007FP:
$550 is the price direct at Dell in the USA yes. I bought it from eBay ;)

Here in The Netherlands the 2007FP is € 500 direcht at Dell. That's overpriced compared to US prices. $500 w/o 19% tax makes € 413 with tax.

Current prices on Samsung 245B are € 400 in The Netherlands. In US $ 460 after mail-in rebate on newegg. $460 w/o tax makes € 380 with 19% tax.

In Europe we have to pay 14% duty on DVI/HDMI displays imported from outside the EU as they are "capable of displaying video." So you have to add your 19% local sales tax after you've added 14% :(

However lots of display manufacturers have assembly plants inside the EU to avoid the 14% so occaisonally we do get a slightly better pre tax price than the US

Note that VGA only displays are "only able to take a computer signal" and exempt from duty

This page on the Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs website gives a quick reference to the duty & VAT on commonly imported goods
http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channels...ent&id=HMCE_PROD_009989&propertyType=document

Duty is the same across the EU
VAT/local sales tax is per country, UK is 17.5%, Germany is 19% etc

WTF...

I thought that was a temporary thing because the monitor brands hadn't definied the thing 'DVI' on the right way with the EU.

Ah well, it does not really matter since most screens sold in the EU are also assembled in the EU. And since Poland and Czech are also EU members we have also countries were they work for next to nothing like the USA has Mexico.

Why elso do you think the European Dell monitors start their serial with CZ and the USA Dell monitors with a serial starting with MX ;)

Besides that, I just imported a Dell 2007FP (with DVI offcourse), for the customs info it said 'monitor' and customsvalue $300 and I got only hit by the default 19%.
