Hi,
I recently got (about a month ago) a Samsung Synchmaster 215TW 21'' widescreen. It was fine, but now it has started to keep a high pitch buzzing sound. The sound is only present when I use it for desktop applications, such as browsing the internet, image manipulation and 3d-modelling, however if I watch a film in fullscreen or use one of the screens inputs (like s-video) the sound dissappears.
I did not notice the sound before. This might be because the sound wasnt there or that the computer case (which is very silent) did not let the buzz to be heard. Then again, none of the fans actually are similar to its sound, so it should be noticable.
I hear people speaking of some kind of "backlight bleed" sound. However, there seems to be little difference between light and dark pictures, but very dark websites do increase the volume of the noise. However, if I use the fullscreen mode in photoshop (toggled with "f"), no matter the picture, the buzzing dissappears. But on desktop use, it is there.
The sound isn't that annoying, and I think could get used to it in time, but the guy on the Samsung customer service told me to get it fixed to the maintenance provider.
Is this common to lcd screens? I can hear it from about 1 meter = 3 feet away pretty clearly since my computer case makes very little sound. I usually hear it only during the night when it's more silent. It sounds like "what a electic current/stream" sounds like. "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr". I think you know what I mean. So, should I take it to be fixed? What's the whole deal?
Regards,
Falgor
