I got this monitor approximately a few weeks ago.

Although I've never compared 8-bit to 6-bit panels (my panel is S-PVA 8-bit), the color is pretty good (in photoshop when you draw a gradient across the entire screen, the banding is there, although you don't notice it unless you try to find it). There is a bit of color shifting which is most apparent in certain situations like [H]ardforum, where there is an excessive amount of black and grayish colors. It's a 16ms panel, but gray-to-gray is a non-issue. I can, however, notice black-to-white and vice versa, however it doesn't really bug me. There is very slight backlight bleed that you cannot see except when you make the screen entirely black, and the bleed occurs in a small region in each of the 4 corners. I never come across it except when booting up WinXP where they have black screens in multiple places.

Overall, my monitor is quite satisfactory. The one thing that I'd like to improve on is the color shifting as you see things from different angles. That is my biggest beef with this kind of panel technology, although considering 0 dead pixels and minimal backlight bleed and the fact that it's my first LCD monitor, coming from a Dell P1110 (21" CRT), it's much lighter, and will make my life a lot easier in the future as I will have to move a lot.

I guess my final thing to add would be that I like how it's NOT widescreen. I don't watch tons of real DVDs on my computer -- I only watch subbed anime, and I also play games. I prefer the 4:3 contrast ratio as it looks very right to me.
