At CES samsung also showed the 174P aslong with the 915N

how come nobody has talked about this revolutionary display

Interesting. Too bad it's only 17" though; everyone is going for bigger.

So in terms of quality, PVA > TN? Aren't there other panel types too? Can anyone give me a lowdown on the pros/cons of the different types?

MVA/PVA

Pros:

- High contrast
- Wide viewing angles both horizontally and vertically
- Rich and vibrant colors (although not the most accurate but still very good for an LCD)

Cons:

- Slow response time

IPS

Pros:

- Wide viewing angles
- Accurate colors
- More "consistent" response time across the whole color spectrum compared to other panel types

Cons:

- Poor contrast

TN

Pros:

- Fast response time

Cons:

- Very poor viewing angles, especially vertically
- Poor contrast
- 6-bit color
