I was recently browsing the egg, and all of a sudden, this pops up:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-001-159&depa=0 .
I was planning on purchasing the famous 172X soon, however this samsung with a similar 12ms response time for over $100 less caught my eye. I searched around for differences, but can't find any. Anybody know if this 710VT is any good? Anybody have it already, or know the similarities and/or differences? Thanks in advance,

I'm using the 172x right now, and these new lcds are something, i was using the 955 before that.

The monitor doesn't look bad, i probably would have got that one instead if i still were in the market.

I would say get it. I think the only difference between the two would be controls, design, and view angle.

Oohh yeah, if it had a DVI input I'd be all over it, but as it is I'll probably wait a bit and get the 172X.

Why don't you look at the Samsung 710T, it has 600 contrast ratio, 300 nits brightness, and is both analog and DVI, 12ms, and supposively has 16.7 million colors (24bit) to boot. I just ordered one from Dell on Monday but it is backordered (bleh), I will post an update on its status if you guys want me to when I get more information.

I just purchased the 710T scheduled to arrive tomorrow, I'll let you guys know how it is. But don't go for the VGA only, you'll regret it.

Where did you order yours from BombermanX? I ordered Monday from Dell because I had some coupons but now it is backordered for a bit.

And DVI plug, which i hear is a large part of image quality.

nahh not really..I've had identical monitors side by side one with DVI the other with Analog and would be hard pressed to tell the difference.

171T and 172X and 2001FP almost identical..

My best gaming LCD right now the Sony SDM-V72B which is analog only...

And..I hear Sony is coming out soon with its followup.. So I'm looking forward to that one.
