Samsung 150N problems

hey guys. my friend recently gave me his 150n monitor for free, so hey i wasn't going to decline. its been used for over a year, on the back it says it was manufactured in january 03. i checked with all the settings and looked hard for any dead pixels and i didn't find one.

but there is one thing i notice. the bottom part of the lcd screen is brighter than the top. i noticed that when i move things from the top to the bottom and notice that the bottom part is brighter than the top. like the task bar seems lighter than anything else on screen. is that a natural thing about lcds or is this problem? and are there any ways to fix this?

If it's the problem i'm thinking of, it isn't neccessarily normal but some LCDs seem to suffer from it. Also older generation LCDs don't display images as evenly as the new ones, botom is brighter than the top etc. and you have to be at a perfect viewing angle, the futher back you get the less you'll notice probably. I find if I sit close to the older LCD screens there is a large variation in brightness from top to bottom.
