I am going to get a 19" LCD monitor to replace my Viewsonic P95f+ CRT. Anyone have an opinion on this monitor or is there a better 19" LCD monitor for a close price?

Here are specs for the Samsun 940B:

Viewable Area: 19"
Pixel Pitch: 0.264
Brightness(Typ.): 300
Contrast Ratio 700:1
Viewing Angle(H/V): 160/160 (CR>5)
Response Time: 8ms
Interface: Analog/Digital
Maximum Resolution: 1280*1024
Colour Supported: 16.2 million

The current price im looking at is $489 CDN.
 
I'm guessing those specs are off the NCIX website. I saw that .264 dot pitch and figured it can't be right 19" lcd's are .294. Looked it up on Samsung and it is .294.

Anyhow my point. With 16.2 million colours and .294 dot pitch you won't get near the image quality for graphic editing as you current CRT. If this bugs you hold off. If you want this for gaming fly at her I've heard good things in that respect.
 
Yeah I agree. What Im really looking for is something to play games and watch movies on and Im not really into photo or graphic editing. I think one thing I will miss is the 1600x1200 resolution, but I want to get some desk space back. I hope this monitor will do the job, still if anyone has suggestions for a better 19" LCD monitor I would like to know.

Unfortunately, after doing a lot of research, games AND movies on an LCD usually don't go together. The compromises are often nasty unless you aren't too picky. You should check out the articles on BeHardware or THG. The best overall monitor was deemed the Viewsonic VP191b. I just purchased the successor to it, the VP930b. I'll be getting it in a week and will share my views on it then. In any case, one can find it for $419 at ZipZoomFly with free 2nd day shipping. There are other vendors though with good prices. Check out PriceGrabber.
