I went by a EE office the other day and there was a pile free take home stuff.

I took the interesting things but there are some things I have no idea what they are for or do.
I tried googling the obvious numbers but didn't find anything.

At first glance I thought it was a laser diode of some sort... especially from the shape of the gold color part. I measured the resistance and was not able to figure out if it was a diode or anything really useful.
The white wire leads to the bottom half of the circle, red and black wires goes to the two quarter parts of the other half.

That thing has 4, 8 segment displays. The other side has a few chips, one of them is for controlling those displays.. I will look it up carefully one day.

Is there any use for these transformers? I don't know how to use them when they are bare like that and I wanted something connected to it... Actually that one should be easy, it does have a front panel machine plug attached to it (like on a psu) I don't think I will be plugging it in though.

any ideas would be great otherwise I will start to desolder things or apply power to various parts and see what i can do with it :p
