Saitek Eclipse III - Opinions?

My next keyboard will likely be the logitech illuminated keyboard. It's flat like a laptop and has backlight, but now blue. I'm just waiting on the price to come down a bit.

WARNING. I've used both this and my dinovo edge quite a bit, but they are pretty crappy for gaming. They only handle a few key presses simultaneously, so if you are playing a game and hit multiple keys at once, some of them won't register. My old eclipse doesn't have this problem.

Owned a few Eclipse units, and owned an Eclipse II. I personally don't care for this new version. Seems to 'busy'.

I still use a modded Eclipse because I prefer it's simplicity.

So? Does this really have blue color as seen in that first picture?

I thought I read reviews that said it didn't have blue.

Yeah, it has Blue, like 3 shades of pink, and red, but the top portion (the volume buttons and what not) is always blue.

IMO this keyboard is just for look, G15 on the other hand actually adds features and function to the table. I personally find macros cause more problem than they solve, but then I don't play mmo.

hmmmm. seems to me that Eclipse 3 = cyborg more evenly flattened, no "metal" keys, and finally makes blue an available color to choose...

it looks cool but never really was a fan of the Eclipse boards. or Saitek for that matter but after my G15 died i needed a new board and the Cyborg peeked my interest. think i might have to give Saitek another try when this board craps out on me

That's why I was so confused, I thought that the one he had was the Cyborg which has no blue color.

At my local store, both the Eclipse III and the Cyborg are the same price. Cyborg seems to have way more features (metal gaming keys), areas with their individual lights, etc. But Eclipse III has blue which is the only color I could really stand.

ARRGH. Anybody have seen both and can tell more differences?

How is the volume control touch control? Is it sensitive? Can you slide your finger up and down it or do you simply press the ends?

On the Cyborg, it is pretty sensitive. I just place my finger on the buttons, and it works. The sliding would be nice, but, it does not. You can "mimic" the sliding if you like by dragging from - to + or vice versa, but it will not change the volume until you are touching - or +.

that's too bad, I thought it would be a nice feature but I am really sick of the imprecision of +/- volume control buttons (touch or regular). I really wanted something that I could slide or twist or turn. I guess I'm off to find a backlit keyboard with a volume knob.
