Saitek Eclipse II or Logitech G11?

I've been looking at keyboards...trying to find that perfect one. Its basically down to two keyboards....the Eclipse II and the G11. I can't decide which one to get.

I like the G11, it has great illumination for each key, with no light coming between the keys....more features than I'd ever need though, and damn that thing is huge. I've also heard complaints about the keys being too close together. I don't need the display on the G15, but I might get it if I decided to get the G11, cuz it's not much more.

The Saitek Eclipse IIwould probably be a done deal, if it wasn't for complaints I've read about the lighting. Such as, hard to read the keys unless you're viewing is straight on, keys not bright enough, and hard to read the keys because of all the backlighting coming through between the keys. Its sized like a regular keyboard though, which is cool, and keys farther apart, so Ive heard.

So....Dunno what to get. Anybody have one of these and care to weigh in? If you've had both of them...even better

Also, whats a good gaming keyboard if I was to go with something basic and non-illuminated? Gotta be quiet and have good key response and feeling.

The G15 is shown as "Vista compatible", but it isn't.

Nope, won't be upgrading to Vista.

Oh, and I forgot to mention....Apparently the Saitek doesn't work with Linux? That might be an issue for me...I like to play around with Linux on occasion as a hobby.

I must say. I got the Saitek Eclipse 2 for Christmas, and I love it! I haven't checked out Linux with it yet, but I don't understand why it wouldn't work.

The keyboard works with basic functionality but none of the extra features. However, if you install the software that is marked for XP it will work. It did for me at least.

it works as a basic, key-typing keyboard, that's it.

LCD is dead, function keys are dead, and all other special features are dead.

And they are currently selling it labeled as "Vista Compatible". They are doing the same with the G25 wheel.

Neither are Vista compatible.

Logitech should be taken to task over this...

I have the Saitek II that I picked up from woot.com for $40 shipped. I love it. I've never had any of the issues you've described. The light has a dial that you can dim if you wish. The keys are laser cut and I haven't had any issues on multiple desks with viewing angles. It's simple, it's pretty, it has nice keys I really like, and it works.

I'm sure the Logitech is a great kb but it's also kind of expensive, which is why I passed on it.
