Safely Remove my C Drive?!?!

Hey guys,

I have just finished building my new system, details of which are in my signature :cool:

Anyways, in it i have 2 Seagate Barracuda 250GB SATA Hard Drives. They are working fine the only odd thign is that they appear in the taskbar under the "Safely Remove Hardware" Icon you normally get when plugging in a USB Pen-Drive etc...

Just wondering why this is and if possible is there a way to stop my hard drives coming up as something that my machine thinks can be safley removed?

p.s. when i click to safely remove either HD, all i get is the "hardware cannot be removed right now" message which makes sence seeming as though my computer is bloody using the hard drives to run! lol!!

go to taskbar/startmenu properties - select hide inactive icons and then click customize. scroll down to whichever you want to show and whichever you want to hide.

It's SATA. It's normal - it does it for everyone else as well.
 
ok, thanks for the info. This is the first time i have had a SATA Hard Drive so..

What causes it? I have 4 sata drives in my IC7-Max3 and I do not get that taskbar app. However, my chaintech board does.

SATA is a hotswappable protocol
how the controller IDs itself to the OS is likely why one does and the other doesnt
 
Last I read it was a tiny bug with Windows and certain chipsets that support SATA hotswap, like NF3/4. Windows thinks the HDD is the same as a regular old hotswapable device, I thought I had heard they were going to fix it. It does it for everyone.
