Whenever I connect my C-750 I just copy all my pictures and turn it off without the "safe" way (just hit the power button then disconnect it). Is there any reason to go through the windows thing then turn it off?

I've never heard of a reason. Says the same thing for my Ipod, wireless card, and hot swappable cd drive/floppy. Don't see why it would be neccessary...

It leaves some devices mounted. Not always but it happens with some that the device still appeares in my computer. When you try and open it, it may crash your PC.

I have never tried this but if someone could, and please respond back to me.

Cheers,

As far as I know, with newer operating systems like Win2k and XP, anything USB is basically hot-swappable.

My thumbdrive I just plug in, transfer, and pull it out. I'd still be safe and keep with turning the camera off before unplugging it and all. Just in case for whatever reason something shorts or arcs somewhere and surges the camera and kills it.
