Ok, maybe a dumb question but I'm new with the Vista OS. Have had a about a week and want to know if this is normal.

In the lower right hand corner, their is an icon "safely remove hardware" that shows up next to the other icons like clock, volume and sidebar. When I click on it, this shows up:

WDC WD32
Asus DRW

Obviously it's my Hard Drive (Western Digital) and my DVD drive. Is this icon showing up on start up everytime normal? Does it have to do something with the fact that their are SATA drives.

I just didn't have this icon in XP showing up. And it showing up everytime could be a risk of accidently clicking it to remove.

Doesn't seem normal, but wanted to ask before I get all bothered by it.

thx.

it is all connected sata devices beacuse i got all 4 of my HDD on there but none of my DVD roms are there

Are you using AHCI? AHCI has facilities for letting SATA drives be hot-swapped, so those devices would classify as "removable" to the OS.

Hey SuperSub, this system was built by AVA and not really sure what AHCI is. Am I using it? Possibly, but wouldn't know it. How would I find out?
