safe voltages on x2 3800?

I hit a wall overclocking my x2 3800+ at 2.57 ghz, and I'm at 1.325v (1.3 is stock). I can't find any documentation about reccomended voltage levels and I don't know if I trust myself just to play around with it. I've jacked it up to ~1.4 and it dosn't change a thing. I'm running a freezer 64 and I hit load temps of 45 on one core and 37 on the other (running a stress test on each core individually) my idle temps are around 27c (not sure which core it's testing, probably the cooler one).

So does anyone have any experience with these processors or any other friendly advice they could give me on it?

Thanks!

Nothing is safe so to speak. You haven't really raised the voltage all tha much at that either.

If you're going to raise the voltage you should find some better than stock cooling first as well.

After that from what I've read and use as a guide is to keep it under 50c as far as temps under load, and under 1.5 volts.

yeah i have one.... vcore max on air is normally 1.55vcore.... but most stay below 1.5

make sure you keep below 60*C load max, but most want to stay below 50*C load...

if you run water than the max vcore is generally 1.65 but most stay below 1.6

Even on Phase you don't want to go over 1.6v if you don't really really need to. On water 1.6 is still extreame. What is the stepping on it? Did you look it up and see what others have hit with that stepping to see what they hit?

Personally, I'd never go above 1.6v with a chip made via the 90nm process... The transistors just can't handle it. If you do, let's say go to 1.65 your transistors are going to start auto-eroding (electron migration), lessening the life and OC ability of your chip.

Now, Of course even at stock voltages these erosions happen. There's a positive co-relation between transistor junction temperature and electron migration... Higher temps mean electrons are more likely to move... Moral of the story? Don't go over 1.6v... Maybe, possibly 1.65v, but make sure that your load temps are below 50'c the WHOLE time.

1.5 is tha max id do on air. 1.45V seems to be the sweet spot for the 3800 X2. As long as temps dont exceed 50-55C under load, then your fine.

up to 1.5 on air is my rule of thumb.

Nice 3800 youve got there, mine hits 2.5ghz at 1.41.. could get it higher i bet but i am not going to bother trying.

500 free mhz its cool with me, no need to get greedy! :)
