Hi guys. Well i have my Gigabyte HD7950 OC which actually is not a good ocer (requires higher voltage than others HD7950's ) but.... it has awesome temps guys, yeah, really good.
For example i've tried OC to 1100mhz / 1375mhz ( core/mem) with 1.218V and it's perfect stable and temps never go past 55° with fixed fan speed of 46%.
Now.. after 2 months i had the idea to go past 1100mhz core. I reached 1150mhz core ( i left the memory at 1375mhz) with 1.24V and temps never go above 60° with fan speed of only 48%. What do you think ? I know that my chip is not that good, it requires a bit more voltage, but.. do you think i can use this Oc for 24/7 ? It is safe ? I've read that more damage to the videocard is caused by high temps than high voltage, anyway, i've also heard that max. safe voltage for HD7900's is 1.25V , i'm I right ??
Please reply :), i want to know if i should left my Oc at 1150/1375 1.24V or if I should drop it to 1100/1375 1.218V considering that my temps at full load are 60° or below in both cases.

Thnks:)

The max voltage in MSI Afterburner is 1.3V .With Sapphire trixx it allows 1.35v( not sure). But I would say 1.25V is a safer limit. You don't want to damage the card. Your temps are very good for a pretty high voltage. are you having a custom air cooler like accelero or just the stock gigabyte cooler. Yes heat and temps are very important. If your card is completely stable in BF3, Heaven for an hour then its fine. Save these voltage / fan settings in a profile in Sapphire trixx. And I would advise you to leave it at stock voltages when you are not gaming. Let it run on AMD CCC default settings. When you want to play games load up sapphire trixx with the saved profile and enjoy max perf.

Keep a close eye on the point of over clock where increased voltage does nothing for stability of speed. There is a point in an over clock where forcing more voltage will not help the performance of the gpu.

In Trixx my voltage on my Sapphire HD7950 950mhz edition goes all the way to 1.39v.

Sweet spot is right around 1.23v for 1300/1600 and card during gaming doesn't gets hotter than mid 40s. My card is water cooled with Swiftech MCW82 7900 block.

Your OC is fine at 1.24V. You can go up to 1.3V if temps cooperate but upping the voltage won't necessarily guarantee higher clocks.

Thanks for your replies. Well I'm only with the GIgabyte Windforce 3X cooler which is awesome. No other custom cooler.
About the voltage.., yes, I finished to stabilize my Oc with Sapphire Trixx ( cause AB won't let me go past 1100mhz core). I'm at 1150/1375 with 1243mv. Temps are pretty fine always below 60° with fixed fan speed of 48%. Oh and I can also reach 1170 /1375 but with 1.25V, well, temps are pretty good but i'm afraid to left the voltage at the safe limit 1.25V x).

Thanks
