CPU core gets up to around 43ish but that is with a pretty cool room, I have the thermalright 120 on there and as soon as the load drops off the cpu the temp drops to 32-35c I assume it will be more around 45c when the weather gets a bit warmer.

Should I try to lower that a bit or is it fine and not bother?

Also I have a 8800gts and I swore I once heard the fan speed up, but it has never done it since. It has gotten up to 70c under load but still the same fan speed. I know thouse cards run hot but how hot is too hot?
 
You should really try and use the search function, this question is asked and answered on a regular basis.

1. You CPU is fine, idleing in the low thirties and loading in the mid forties is excellent IMO, a good guideline for E6600 temps (any C2D really) is to keep under 65C under load, the built in thermal "brake" will throttle at 85C so that must be considered too hot.

2. For your GFX the 8800GTS with stock cooler idles around 65-68C and loads up around 80-90Cs I think, however they can stand much more heat (upwards 100C) without dying on you.

3. Now get overclocking, that's the way to go...

What software are you using to get those numbers? If you're using RMClock or TAT, your temps are good. 63-65 is the recommended max.

Your CPU will change with the room temp. Read this thread for more on that topic.

You always have the option to lap your HS and or IHS on your CPU. Depending on how concave/vex each is, you may see a decrease in temps as high as 10 °C (at least I did when I lapped mine). Lapping the IHS on a Q6600 and Lapping an Ultra-120 Extreme.
 
your temps are no were near bad just leave it as it is.aslong as its under 60c it safe.

As long as it is under 75c when overclocked you are still way safe.....60c is like chilled, on these cpu's ;)

The max temps you see quoted above are for mild overclocks... when you start really cranking on the vcore you need to insure your temps are lower. I run a 1.58vcore (high) and I keep my max load @ 47 - that should be fine, but if I was peaking @ 60c... we'd have a problem as my processor wouldn't last too long... so your max temp is relative to your vcore - higher the vcore you run (don't even concern yourself with this until you break 1.525) the lower the temp you will need to keep it safe.
 
1.58 vcore is ...a bit higher than what most would consider "high" voltages :D

I won't bother with anything over 1.47 volts....more than that and temps get too high, not to mention anything over 1.5v runs into lifespan issues, lots of voltage can kill a cu even if temps are low.

I consider it "beastly" voltage... I'm not scared of gaining a $330.00 keychain... but I won't as I serve to prove the point that if well cooled, voltages of up to 1.60v are reasonable... someone has to do it.... remember all of these beliefs and theories are based on nothing more than conjecture with previous platform experiences... I know of no one that has keychained a well cooled C2D... anyone care to correct me on that? I've been severely obliterating suggested voltages since my Celeron 300A days and I have never ruined a processor even after years of use. 300A @ 504, 366A @ 550, 450 @ 600, 733 @ 900, 1.2 & 1.5, 2.4C @ 3.4, and now 2.4 E6600 @ 3.4.

But, I digress - when I'm idling at 19c and loading in the 40's (in stress tests) I think electromigration is a distant concern.

What is a safe temperature for hard drives? I have 4 drives running and their temps are 35, 39, 39 and 44 C. Is that too hot?

As you can see, I'm limited in space so where could I put a fan to keep these guys cool? Also notice the hard drives aren't plugged in in that picture so think that + a little more mess :p

You can look up your specific drive temp rating on the manufacturer's site, but typically anything under 50c is pretty normal. If you start going over that you need to find out why.
