I have a 3.0 GHZ P4 (X86 Family 15 Model 2) and I think my CPU Temp is a little to high. Currently under no load it runs about 150F. I am trying to figure out what steps and how drastic I am going to have to be in getting the temp down. I just wanted to ask what the safe operating temp is on these CPUs I usually run AMD procs and I was looking for some help on this one.

What is 150F in C??? Computer temps are usually labeled in C:) Tell me what it is in C and then I can help you.

I was alarmed to say the least, my two AMD machines run about 115 to 120F. The reason I ask is that my machine is locking up randomly, and before I re-load the OS I thought I might check to see if there was a hardware issue involved.

Its a rather huge intel heatsink, yes.

Its unlikely that crashing is due to 65c, if thats your load temp, but its not out of the question. I would definately do the normal checking the heatsink contact and thermal paste and re-applying. AMD cpu's run much cooler than the P4's did.
