Sabertooth P67 extremely slow boot

I was wondering if anyone has experienced extremely slow boot times with the Sabertooth P67 or similar boards when certain USB devices are connected, and if they had found a solution for it.

Connecting up either my Kensington trackball, or a 32GB SanDisk thumbdrive to the system adds minutes to the boot times of my system, giving me a solid black screen before it POSTs. (but the graphics card is initialised, as I get a signal)

If I pull either device out, it POSTs immediately, even if I plug it back in right away. The system is also affected when rebooting, not just cold boots.

Running the latest BIOS updates, doesn't seem to matter whether I have legacy USB options enabled, or which USB ports they are connected to.

It boots slow when i have my external hard drive plugged in. Disconnect hard drive and fast boot.

I would have expected some delay if it was a bootable drive connected, but even with just the trackball plugged in, it takes several minutes to boot, rather than about 15s.

Haven't experienced this problem with any other devices other than it and the thumbdrive. (unfortunately I bought the thumbdrive with the intention of leaving it in the system at all times to have an easily portable backup)
